This older canine “cries” in misery when he sees her household depart her on the shelter for an additional canine

On December 30, 2015, two dogs arrived at the San Bernardino City Shelter in California with strays: a nine-year-old Cocker Spaniel female and a year-old Labrador.

A few days later the family of the two animals came to take them from the shelter. At least to get the younger of the two dogs. Unable to pay the veterinary bills for the older dog’s health care, they had to leave the cocker spaniel named Cookie and left without returning.

The dog, seeing them leave her behind, couldn’t stop itself from screaming desperate, but in vain. Her family never came back for her.

Fortunately, others decided to help Cookie. The organization OC Small Paws So UT helped the shelter place her with a foster family, which saved her life. Cookie would undoubtedly have been put to sleep had she stayed in the refuge.

A visit to the vet revealed a number of health problems. The animal had 12 cancerous tumors, almost all of which were removed during surgery in January 2016. Cookie enjoys a well-deserved second chance in life.

Cookies are not provided for acceptance. The members of the OC Small Paws So UT organization decided to keep her with them for the rest of her life so that she could receive the best possible care. Cookie can finally leave her painful past behind and enjoy the peace of her new life.

While this adorable dog’s story has a happy ending, many other dogs are still waiting to be rescued.

Shelters are full of animals waiting for their eternal families. Don’t adopt shopping! It is a shame to bring animals into the world to be sold. Animals are not goods. Adoption saves two lives, the animal you bring into your home and the animal that now has a vacant place in the shelter.

The Pet Finder provides a list of adoptable pets in your area.
